Is the Crockery Kraken related to the Kraken of myth?

The Crockery Kraken has been around a long time. But of course, the Kraken of Greek mythology has been around even longer. Are they related? At first glance, the answer would be: Of course! But closer examination reveals more differences than similarities. The Crockery Kraken (CK) is many times smaller than the Kraken (K). In fact, he's relatively tiny, having to navigate the pipes around people's homes. There's also the question of temperament. K was known as a force of great destruction, levelling entire communities and being a terror to all ocean-going vessels. CK is actually rather a mild creature - known to love clean dishes and a tidy kitchen, and even generous to the point of actually granting wishes. But clearly, there is a connection, and it's more than the simple connection that all cephalopods share.
